Best Vegan Multivitamin for Women in 2025

Last Updated: February 8, 2025

For as long as I can remember, multivitamins have been a part of my life.

As a child, I’d eagerly chew on the colorful, fruity tablets my parents gave me each morning.

By the time I reached high school and started driving, I’d wander the vitamin aisle at Walmart, completely mesmerized by the endless options, choosing my vitamins based solely on the most appealing bottle design.

Then, I stepped into the world of GNC and Whole Foods, convinced I’d hit the jackpot of premium supplements. I mean, a whole store dedicated to vitamins and wellness—it felt like the holy grail of health.

Later, with the rise of internet shopping and my own foray into weight loss, I found myself diving headfirst into trendy diets, shiny new crystals, and the latest wellness fads. Programs like Isagenix promised results—and yes, I hit my weight goals—but something still felt off.

Eventually, my health journey led me deeper, to the real core of what my body needed: not just another pretty bottle on the shelf, but supplements crafted with quality, intention, and ingredients that truly nourish and sustain my plant based lifestyle. That’s when everything changed.

If you’re short on time and just want the quick takeaway, here it is: Performance Lab Women’s Multivitamin is hands down the top choice for vegans in 2025. When it comes to selecting the best vegan multivitamins, it's crucial to evaluate them based on quality and specific dietary needs.

Key Takeaways

  • Multivitamins Fill Nutritional Gaps: They provide essential nutrients you may miss in your daily diet, especially on a plant-based lifestyle.
  • Vegans Have Unique Nutritional Needs: Performance Lab Women’s Multivitamin is designed to address these needs with clean, plant-based ingredients.
  • Quality Matters: Choose a multivitamin like Performance Lab for its science-backed, sustainable approach to health and wellness.

What are Multivitamin Dietary Supplements

A multivitamin is a supplement designed to provide essential vitamins and minerals that your body needs that you may not get enough of from food alone.

You can think of it as a safety net, filling in nutritional gaps to support your overall health. It is important to evaluate the health claims of these supplements to ensure they are backed by credible scientific research and provide genuine benefits.

Multivitamins typically include a blend of nutrients that contain vitamins A, C, D, E, and K, along with key minerals like magnesium, zinc, and selenium.

Some formulations are tailored to specific needs, such as women’s health, offering additional support for hormonal balance, bone strength, and energy production.

Why Are Multivitamins Essential Nutrients For Every Day

We all know that whole, nutrient-rich foods should always be the foundation of your every day, but the reality is that life can show up, and when it shows up, it can show up really hard making eating a proper diet every day not as easy as we would like it to be.

Stress, environmental factors, and dietary restrictions can leave nutritional gaps for anyone, affecting your nutrient intake.

Here’s why multivitamins matter:

  1. 1
Consider them like insurance: Even with the best intentions, it’s hard to eat perfectly balanced meals every day. Multivitamins ensure you’re covered.
  2. 2
They provide you energy and vitality: Nutrient deficiencies can sap your energy and affect your overall well-being. A high-quality multivitamin help supports sustained energy levels.
  3. 3
Think about your long-term health: Regular supplementation helps maintain strong bones, robust immunity, and a healthy cardiovascular system.

Understanding Vegan Nutrition

Navigating the world of vegan nutrition can be both exciting and challenging. As someone committed to a plant-based diet, it’s crucial to understand the unique nutritional needs that come with this lifestyle. A well-planned vegan diet is not just about avoiding animal products; it’s about ensuring you get all the essential nutrients your body needs to thrive.

Importance of a Balanced Vegan Diet

A balanced vegan diet is the cornerstone of optimal health. It involves more than just cutting out meat and dairy; it’s about embracing a variety of whole, plant-based foods that provide a rich array of nutrients. Fruits, vegetables, whole grains, legumes, nuts, and seeds should be staples in your diet. These foods are packed with essential nutrients, including vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, which support overall health and well-being.

However, even with the best intentions, it’s easy to miss out on some nutrients. Factors like stress, busy schedules, and limited food choices can lead to nutrient gaps. That’s where a high-quality vegan multivitamin comes in, acting as a safety net to ensure you’re getting all the nutrients you need.

Key Nutrients for Vegans

Maintaining a vegan diet means paying extra attention to certain nutrients that are commonly found in animal products. Here are some key nutrients that vegans should focus on:

  • Vitamin B12: Essential for energy metabolism, nerve function, and the formation of red blood cells. Since it’s primarily found in animal products, supplementation is often necessary for vegans.
  • Vitamin D: Important for bone health, immune function, and mood regulation. Sunlight exposure can help, but a supplement ensures you get enough, especially in winter months.
  • Omega-3 Fatty Acids: Support heart health, brain function, and reduce inflammation. Flaxseeds, chia seeds, and walnuts are good sources, but a supplement can help meet daily needs.
  • Iron: Crucial for healthy red blood cells and preventing anemia. Plant-based sources include lentils, chickpeas, and spinach, but a multivitamin can help ensure adequate intake.
  • Calcium: Vital for bone health and muscle function. Fortified plant milks and leafy greens are good sources, but a supplement can provide additional support.
  • Vitamin K: Necessary for blood clotting and bone health. Found in leafy greens, but a multivitamin can help cover any gaps.
  • Zinc: Supports immune function, wound healing, and protein synthesis. Nuts, seeds, and legumes are good sources, but a supplement can ensure you’re getting enough.
  • Iodine: Essential for thyroid function and brain development. Seaweed is a good source, but a multivitamin can help maintain adequate levels.

By focusing on these essential nutrients, you can ensure your vegan diet supports your overall health and well-being.

Why Should Vegans Take a Vegan Multivitamin?

As a fellow plant-based community member, I know firsthand how rewarding this lifestyle can be—for your health, for the animals, and for the planet.

But let’s be honest: some nutrients are harder to come by when skipping animal products.

Key nutrients like vitamin B12, vitamin D, iodine, iron, and zinc are often found in lower amounts in vegan diets.

That’s where a multivitamin tailored to plant-based diets becomes essential. It bridges the gap, ensuring you are getting the basic needs to thrive without compromising your values.

  • Multivitamins bridge the gap, ensuring you are getting the basic needs to thrive without compromising your values.

How to Spot the Best Ingredients in a Multivitamin to Fill Nutrient Gaps

Choosing the right multivitamin can feel overwhelming with so many options on the market. The Vegan Society is a reputable certifying body for vegan products, ensuring that they align with vegan standards and values. But by focusing on the quality and source of ingredients, you can make an informed decision.

Here are key factors to look for:

  • Bioavailability: Look for multivitamins that use highly bioavailable forms of nutrients, such as methylcobalamin for vitamin B12 or magnesium citrate. These forms are more easily absorbed by the body, ensuring maximum benefit.
  • Clean Formulas: Avoid products with synthetic additives, artificial colors, or unnecessary fillers. A high-quality multivitamin should prioritize purity and simplicity.
  • Targeted Formulas: Women-specific multivitamins should include nutrients like iron, calcium, and folate for energy and hormonal balance, as well as vitamin D for bone health.

Best Multivitamin for Vegan Women

After years of trial and error, I’ve found that not all multivitamins are created equal and you can’t solely rely on the packaging that looks pretty, or even the most popular brands you can get off the shelves at the store.

I had to learn to distinguish between what truly mattered to me—achieving my goals and prioritizing what my body genuinely needed for daily resilience and sustainability.

I often found myself feeling exhausted, relying too much on caffeinated teas, and spending money on external distractions instead of focusing on finding a lasting, inside-out solution to support my well-being. A key benefit of the recommended multivitamin is its ability to promote healthy skin, thanks to the inclusion of vitamins like C, E, and zinc.

How to Start Using Performance Lab® NutriGenesis® Multi for Women

  • Before we dive in, please note that I am not a doctor and cannot make any claims, diagnose, treat, or prescribe anything. My goal is to encourage you to listen to your body and determine what resonates with your unique needs. As always, consult with your healthcare provider or nutritionist for personalized advice.

Incorporating Performance Lab® NutriGenesis® Multi for Women into your daily routine is going to be similar to any other multivitamin you have taken before.

The only difference is that the company recommends taking 4 capsules per day for optimal results.

For me, I take 2 capsules a day in the morning.

There only has been a few times where I actually taken the 4 dosage when I had longer days, but I also took other supplements like Mind Lab Pro, to help support my need for longer days or days where I need to focus more.

I also took the 4 capsules while I was pregnant knowing my body demanded more nutritional needs.

When I did take the 4 capsules, what I did to achieve the best results was to take two in the morning and two in the afternoon.

This split-dosing strategy helped ensure optimal nutrient absorption throughout the day.

It's important to remember that a balanced diet rich in whole plant foods can provide essential nutrients, and supplements can help fill any gaps.

What’s even more neat is that you have the flexibility to take these capsules with or without food, making it easy to fit them into your schedule—whether you have time to make breakfast or if you’re like me, rushing out the door nearly late to everything.

But the downfall of taking 4 throughout the day was remembering to pack the other two vitamins - or actually taking them if I did pack them.

I would typically stick them in a little baggie and then in my pocket so they would be there when I was ready to take them because carrying the bottle just seemed too bulky.

Sometimes, this method didn’t work well for me because I would forget and then waste two capsules accidently leaving them in my pocket and washing it in with my laundry.

Eventually, I had to write in a note on my alarm that would go off my phone to remind me to take my extra vitamins so I wouldn’t forget. But being honest, that was just another step and thing I needed to put in my memory bank that was also sometimes difficult.

So, if you take 4 I would recommend to find a method that works well for you if you need to bring them on the road with you, to work, or wherever you are going.

Considerations for Vegans

Every vegan’s nutritional needs and health goals are unique, and it’s important to consider these when selecting a multivitamin. Here are some specific considerations:

Individual Needs and Health Goals

  • Pregnant or Breastfeeding Women: These women may require higher levels of certain nutrients, such as folate and iron, to support their increased nutritional needs.
  • Athletes or Individuals with High Energy Needs: Those with high energy demands may need more calories and nutrients to support performance and recovery. A multivitamin can help fill any gaps.
  • Individuals with Health Conditions: Conditions like celiac disease or Crohn’s disease can affect nutrient absorption, making specialized nutrition and supplements necessary.
  • Transitioning Vegans: Those new to a vegan diet may need additional support to ensure they are getting all the necessary nutrients during the transition period.

It’s essential for vegans to consult with a healthcare professional or registered dietitian to determine their individual nutritional needs and health goals. A well-planned vegan diet, combined with a high-quality multivitamin, can help ensure optimal health and well-being.
