Bag Trends That Are About To Take Over

Bag Trends That Are About To Take Over-Leafy Souls Vegan Blog Post

The season has changed and with it, we need a whole new set of attire and handbags to match with them. And this time, we are going from DIYJean bags to catwalk worthy investments. This season we see corporate classic flap black, patterns on pouches and eco- friendly canvas shoulder bag options that all have a stylish look and practical interior.

So let’s get ready for summer! Start by checking your wardrobe and look at the outfits you have ready for this season. Dresses, t-shirts, shorts, and minis! Finally, you can bring these items out to wear again and there is nothing better than thinking about what kind of bag and in which colors you need to complete the look.

Maybe you're looking to update your fashion. That's ok too! These womens long shorts are the perfect start to your ensemble.

Then, read on the list provided by Vogue for the biggest trends to keep an eye on this year - then match your outfit with one in the following list!

Bun Bags

If you’re toying with a bum bag purchase, park it, there’s an upgrade in town and it’s more refined than ever. The extra elegant belt bag will come into its own next spring thanks to Riccardo Tisci’s chain-link style for Burberry.

Check Givenchy’s pristine white leather version too, while at Chloé, they appeared hand-held rather than belted at the show in September. Last, but by no means least, who doesn’t want a Chanel version in their wardrobe?

Black is Back

Recommending a potentially quite cold and corporate black leather handbag purchase as one of your key summer styles may sound a little rogue, but it’ll be the most elegant punctuation to that bells and whistles must-have crotchet dress you’ll be wanting to slip into come May. And really these are no ordinary everyday handbags, gold logo clasped is the way to go - Celine’s Triomphe in shiny calfskin, Chloé’s C Double Carry, and Valentino’s VRING with an added red tag flag are hitting theVogue editors’ wishlists.

Patterns and Parties

The desire for original “It” bag styles has gained such momentum that designers have actioned the re-issuing and design updates of flashback classics such as the Fendi Baguette and the Dior Saddle. Note the SS19 riff on the rectangle ‘90s and noughties party-purse shape, Prada’s Sidonie leather comes in suede, leather and the print of the season - tie-dye, whereas Michael Kors’ versions take shape in chain handle brocade. But the big question is, will they house your new iPhone just as well as they did the Nokia 3210?

Eco Straw Bags

The summer 2018 prize of Most Instagrammable Beach Accessory went to the extraordinarily large straw hat by Jacquemus (how did they get that through on hand-luggage I hear you ask?) and for SS19 he’s going for it again with his oversized raffia fringed totes – so big they skim the ankle. But it isn’t only his love of straw and raffia that cements the mood – see Macramé at Isabel Marant and Sonia Rykiel, while Loewe’s low-slung bags add the same carefree attitude we hope to carry all summer long.

Oversize Canvas

It’s big, really big, almost parachute big; which when full, thrown over your shoulder is akin to work out. Proenza Schouler’s canvas number would most certainly fit in more than one kitchen sink, Versace’s transparent version is ideal for the beach, and Burberry’s will induce ultimate office envy. Start arm training in preparation now.

Party Pouch

Unstructured throw-over-your-shoulder or tuck-under-your-arm bags have always been a favorite for the laid-back dresser. But now, when rendered in drawstring leather at Givenchy or scrunched into a loose ball at Proenza Schouler, they are elegant punctuation to city dressing. The soft party-pouch bag has been a regular on the event circuit for a few seasons, but Stella’s perforated leather alternative gives the style extended airtime for SS19. Also, look out for foldable paper-bag tops – Margiela, Jil Sander, and Simon Miller are modern classics, and this season Dries Van Noten’s neon nylon offering is a punchy update.

Duffle Bag

Spotted on the spring 2019 runways: duffle bags, but make it fashion. Labels like Coach and Calvin Klein debuted petite versions of your favorite weekenders and effectively made the silhouette cool for everyday wear. If you want to be an early adopter, retailer Moda Operandi has already released styles, even though we're still mid-winter. Embrace the cylindrical shape in addition to the boxier styles of recent years.

Crochet

You promised yourself you'd learn to crochet, but never actually got around to it—dammit. Pas de problème, the designers came to your rescue. Crochet totes and backpacks were spotted on the runways of Monse, Isabel Marant, and Chanel, painting an overall boho and summery resort vibe for the season. Whether you're searching for a casual tote to bring to the beach or a semi-fancy one for dinner, there are more than enough crochet options to meet every desire.
